WATER WATCH
Due to the low levels of rain we are experiencing in Rarotonga, our catchment stream flow levels that feed into our water network are dropping significantly.
The long term weather outlook is looking likely to be limited rain fall until February 2024 according to the Cook Islands Meteorological Service. If the current trends continues we may have to consider water rationing. We urge everybody to use water responsibly.
In alignment with the To Tatou Vai Drought Preparedness and Response Plan 2023 – 2025, a ‘Water Watch’ campaign has been developed to raise awareness and educate both residents and visitors on Rarotonga of our current water problem. The four level coloured coded system below represents the current water status for Rarotonga. The Pa Enua remains unaffected at this time.
