Road Closure & Temporary Water Outage – Nikao area
To Tatou Vai (TTV) wishes to inform the public that the road directly in front of the Pacific Energy Office, Nikao will be closed on Thursday, 19 February 2026 from 4:00am – 11:00am
This closure is required to allow TTV to carry out urgent pipe replacement works beneath the sealed road in this area. This stretch of the road will be fully closed, during this time.
Traffic Advisory:
Motorists travelling from the town area towards Arorangi direction should divert to the back road (Ara metua).
Motorists travelling from Arorangi towards town direction should also use the back road.
TTV encourages all motorists to travel earlier than their usual and allow extra time for delays and slow-moving traffic during this period.
Those living or working in the Nikao/ Panama area that will not be affected by this road closure outside Pacific Energy office, including emergency services wishing to access the area may continue travelling into the area, with caution.
In addition, there will be a one-hour water outage from 9:00am to 10:00am, affecting customers from Islander Hotel to the Cook Islands Meteorological Services.
Traffic diversion signage will be in place, and motorists are asked to follow directions at all times.
TTV apologises for the inconvenience this will cause and thanks the public for their patience and understanding as we undertake these essential works on the network.
